This place was awesome! I'm from metro Detroit and whenever I go out of town I always try to avoid chain places and go local. Grampa Tony's is exactly that! The restaurant is small but the menu is not. 3 of the 4 of us had breakfast and I had a grinder. The food was very tasty and the menu was quite large, especially for the size of the place. My Italian grinder was filled with meat and the works and was well worth the price of 6 something. The folks who had breakfast also confirmed their food was fresh and homemade. I would absolutely come here again. The loss of one star is due to the waitress. She was training a new waiter and seemed annoyed/showed that annoyance while serving us.

My wife and I usually enjoy this restaurant and we have a favorite waitress Amy. Tonight Amy was on a break so we accepted the young man as our server. BIG MISTAKE! we ordered a smelt dinner to share. It took a long time to be served and when it came, there was only one plate. I asked the waiter for a plate and for some mayonnaise on the side. He then proceeded to take drinks to another table. He then took some more drinks to another table. Still no plate. I decided to see how warm the food was because it was taking him so long. The smelt was stone cold as were the French fries. Having investing too much time on this inadequate server, we left.

I ordered chicken parm with grilled chicken breasts and fresh mushrooms. It was outstanding. My friend ordered a pizza sandwich and he said it was really good. The portions were pretty large for the prices.

Good food and prices are inexpensive. This is definitely better than the Grampa Tony's on Columbus. Staff are excellent and efficient. The steak sandwich with cheese and mushrooms, is still my favorite. I live on the East side and only a few blocks from the the Grampa Tony's on Columbus. But we still go to the one on Wilder. The air conditioning is on but you would not notice, as it is very warm in this restaurant. They have fans going but it does not help much. That sometimes make me pass this restaurant and go farther down Wilder to find another restaurant. Personally, I think they need a new air conditioner. As the one they have you can visually see on the ceiling. It looks extremely old. This place is usually crowded. Which is added to the temperature inside. The portions are large and each time I eat there, I always need a doggie bag. You won't be disappointed, if you can stand the heat in the summer.

Good tasty pasta dishes and sauce is also good! Service is decent, the staff is friendly and prices are cheap! I'll be back for more whenever i'm in town. Inside the restaurant furnishings are kind of "divey" or old cafe style but OK. Lots of choices on the menu and specials on certain nights. Notices their carryout is hopping busy and they will bring to curbside if desired. No AMEX but will take others.

Only been here for breakfast. I show up about twice a month. Large portions. Food is pretty good. Price isn't bad. Decor is pretty bad and dated.

Love it! I am pretty critical of Italian, and the white bread wrapped in plastic wrap was a put off. But the pasta came and it was yummy. Not on the menu, but try the pizza with Peperoncini and ground beef, YUM!

Have been there several times and enjoyed it. Their pizza and deep-fried scallops are quite good.

Italian-themed restaurant done by white Midwesterners. Pastas, breads, etc. are all good; beer prices are high for Bay City. Several dishes (including bacon and one of the raviolois) are deep-fried unless you request otherwise.
